And the winner of Shoe String Startup of the Year 2013 is…
The judges spent many days deliberating because all 10 finalists were outstanding in their own right. But they did finally come to a decision, and tonight we handed the winner a life-size boarding pass to and from San Francisco’s Silicon Valley – the world capital for innovation – where they will have the opportunity to meet some of the most influential entrepreneurs of our time.
Without further ado, the winner is Selz!
Launched in May this year, Selz is proudly disrupting the multi-billion dollar online transaction industry. It offers simple selling tools for individuals and businesses that have a strong online presence and following.
Unlike PayPal and other third-party selling platforms, with Selz individuals and businesses just have to create a product listing through the site and choose where to place that product for sale. They can embed it into their blog or website or share it as a post or tweet; they can pin it on Facebook, Twitter or Pinterest; and they can sell the product on Facebook by adding a Selz Store tab to their Facebook page.
Essentially, Selz is all about empowering the ‘little guys’ by providing them with a tool that affords them the ability to operate outside the boundaries of larger third-party organisations, and have real ownership of their business, end to end.
