Startup Weekend returns to Brisbane

Startup Weekend is returning to Brisbane! Running from 18th to the 20th of October.   The weekend long event will be the first for Brisbane, held over 54 hours at River City Labs in the heart of Fortitude Valley.

Brisbane’s brightest entrepreneurs will pitch their ideas to their fellow peers and receive feedback, potentially walking away with great advice and a co-founder or investor as well.

Startup Weekend is designed to provide superior experiential education for technical and non-technical entrepreneurs.  Beginning with Friday night pitches and continuing through brainstorming, business plan development, and basic prototype creation, Startup Weekends culminate in Sunday night demos and presentations.

Local CEOs, Founders, Entrepreneurs and Startup veterans will be on hand to provide expertise and give talks on their experiences in the fast paced world of technology Startups.

Code Heros Director Molly Taylor said Startup weekend gave her valuable insight into the various factors that can make an idea fail or succeed.

“The most beneficial part of the weekend (for me personally) was getting to sit down and talk to some great mentors,” Ms Taylor said

“They provided advice from technical to monetisation, and shared their experiences of being in a startup, both the lows and the highs and the pitfalls along the way.

“I came away from the weekend with renewed energy and purpose to work on my own ideas,” she said.
