Startups on the Go

If you are anything like me, and you are still in that startup phase where you are just figuring things out, you are operating lean and spend your time being a bit of a nomad about town, you will probably agree with me that carting multiple devices, books, pens around in a backpack gets really old, really fast!

As lean fast moving entrepreneurs it is just as important that we create that image of being slick and on top things, especially if you are in the B2B sector and are conducting sales meetings at cafes or co-working spaces.

At the moment I am loving the Ultrabook™. Inspired by Intel, some Ultrabooks have the capability to act as a as a two in one that allows me to literally work from wherever I happen to be that day. The fact that it is touch screen and converts into a tablet means I can quickly go from sending emails and writing articles to having it on my lap while hosting the radio show, or propping it up whilst I give a sales presentation in a boardroom or cafe.

The fact that startup founders around Australia are always on the go right now means that quite often we also double book things, forget about appointments due to being on the run. In fact over the last 6 months, I would estimate that I have lost three sales opportunities due to this. Being on the go, means we need to be on top of things and that is why we need to make sure that we always have access to our availabilities.

Here are three tips for startup founders having trouble managing their time:

1. Have a calendar that syncs between your laptop and phone

2.If someone calls to book an appointment with you schedule it in your calendar right then and there

3.Preschedule times in your calendar that you are unavailable, this avoids you doing the whole “meeting overload” thing and not having time to do important things such as sales.

With technology these days there should be no excuses for not being on top of your business even when you are on the go, so make sure you choose the right device, keep on top of your schedule and go forth and kick some butt!

Aging office technology could be costing your business more than you know – crashes, slow boot up time and lost data – they all equate to lost productivity.  See which year your technology was most appropriate for at and you could win an upgrade to the latest future-ready Intel® gear or even a $10K office upgrade from Harvey Norman, plus an HP Elitebook Revolve 810 Business tablet worth $2199.

Thanks to our partners at Harvey Norman, if you buy any new Intel powered computer you’ll receive $100 worth of accessories for free if you purchase before July 21.  To redeem your voucher go to HN Facebook page
