Startup Law Workshop: Shareholders Agreements

Shareholders agreements are the legal foundations for startup founders short and long term engagement with co-founders and investors. Getting the terms and structure right is essential to create value and certainty for all involved. In this practical workshop students will learn:
– What goes into a shareholders agreement and where to start
– How to negotiate the terms of a shareholders agreement
– Students will review a typical template in the class that they can customise for their startup
– When and why to get legal advice for a shareholders agreement
Kurt Falkenstein is an entrepreneur and lawyer. He is the Principal of Sunship Ventures, a private company that operates, advises, and invests in innovative businesses. He is also General Counsel with a major solar wholesaler & retailer and Special Counsel at commercial law firm, advising startups and representing select private clients. Kurt is the founder of General Standards, a startup designed to make legal decisions and agreement easier to make for startups and small businesses. Sunship Ventures has investments in Australia and the USA. Kurt works regularly in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.
