Startup Targets Fashionistas & Local Designers

Sticks & Stones is a new monthly event catering to all fashion conscious individuals in Sydney. Founders Gian Reyes and Yasmin Walter describe the event as “the fashion show and the after party combined.” The elements are all there, featured designer, models on the runway, an exclusive area for VIPs and of course the club party downstairs. Sticks & Stones opens its doors on the 19th of May showcasing Australian Small Business Championship winners, Show Pony Fashion.

Sticks & Stones aim to target a niche never before targeted by any nightclubs in Sydney, fashionistas. Sticks & Stones’ creators Gian Reyes and Yasmin Walter wanted to create a platform for local designers to showcase their wares without having to organise runway shows and paying the costs themselves to wine and dine their demographic.

“We really wanted to make it easier for local brands to get noticed, we know how tough it is for new designers to get attention, especially if they don’t have the right contacts. I just wanted to be able to say, wow I really love what you’re doing, we have a crowd that would be interested in it, let’s showcase your brand next month” explains Gian.

Yasmin also knows the amount of work that goes into organising a fashion show, from invitations to models, catering and entertainment, “We can organise all of these for them and take some stress away”

Gian includes “We really wanted to help local fashion labels and other fashion related start-ups, acting as a platform to launch their businesses. It’s very difficult to get these businesses off the ground, especially without the right contacts. We organise the event, and provide the audience.”

Sticks & Stones are opening its doors on the 19th of May at the Oxford Hotel, Darlinghurst showcasing the brand Show Pony. A $35 general entry is also available.
