Sydney Startup Weekend Produces 21 New Companies!
Over the weekend hundreds of entrepreneurs, mentors, tech geeks and investors got together for Sydney’s second and Australia’s largest startup weekend to date!
Facilitator of Startup Weekend Australia Tyson Lundbech said “This has been the largest startup weekend that we have had in Australia, with the most teams formed, the most pitches and the most people that have come along. Thanks to people like Optus and Google it has also been the most well organised, we also have to thank Fishburners for providing the space. People have gone to great lengths to pull this off, and the way this event is building the startup community in Australia, is like no other of it’s kind in Australia”
Teams had 54 hours to create, build and present their business to a panel of expert judges, that included Austin Byran, edgar Hardless, Stu Richardson, Peter Cooper, Phil Morle, Kim Heras and Mark Pesce. Fishburners provided all teams that pitched on the Sunday night with a Community desk at their offices of the next month so that they can continue to build their business idea and bring it to life.
The energy in the room was amazing and it blew us away the quality of the pitches and the amount of work that some of these amazing entrepreneurs got completed in less than 3 days!
The Grand Winner of the $5000 from Optus was Fit Us In on the night – A revolutionary new service for the fitness industry that can be best described as the “Wot If” for Gyms. A Full list of the other prize winners and companies that pitched are below.
