News, Insights and Stories from the Australian and New Zealand tech ecosystem.

Entrepreneurs are the new Celebrities

I am going to make a prediction, Entrepreneurs are going to be the next big thing when it comes to media and in particular  television over the next 12 months. It will be less Keeping up with the Kardashian’s and more Keeping up with the Startup space -with a particular focus on tech and new innovative applications in the mobile and web space that change the way we live our lives and perform tasks.

There is also the fact that so many celebrities are actually creating, building and investing in new startup companies as well a great example is Ashton Kutcher and his app Flipboard. There is a genuine interest now from the public in working for yourself, making money for yourself and dreaming big – the current financial situation of the world has definitely contributed to that.

The focus will be less The Apprentice and Dragons Den and more Reality. We will see all the high’s, the lows, the rejections, the criticisms, the failure’s, the success stories and the people behind these great innovations and all their strengths and weaknesses. The series TechStars by Bloomberg is a great example of what we can expect to see, the trailer is below. Considering there is a huge focus from the US on the Aussie Tech Scene and the startup world in Australia is currently flourishing. Expect to see something similar coming to the small screen soon.
