Red Hot Chilli Pepper

Vicki Taylor started her herbs and spice shop “Red Hot Chilli Pepper” in february of this year. In addition to spices taylor also sells tagines, other lovely Moroccan and Indian cookware as well as ceramic draws, spice tins, mortar and pestles etc.

The store is located in Coloundra on the sunshine coast QLD. Knowlingy taking a big risk opening in a non-city based area Taylor admits that things were slow to start as it took some time for people to realise and get what the store was all about.

After 6 months Red Hot Chilli Pepper has built quite a large database and Taylor ensures she keeps them visiting through communications such as monthly newsletters and through taste testing events on the weekends.

“My ultimate goal is to educate people on herbs and spices, and get them to go back to the basics of cooking with whole / ground spices rather than reaching for a jar” says Taylor. With things travelling well so far a second shop is on the cards  for next year with perhaps a sister shop in New Zealand in the wings.
