StyleXpose came about when Amy Woodhead was going to markets – Glebe, Bondi, Paddington, Kirribilli and Surry Hills every weekend and seeing so many talented upcoming Australian designers. Gradually Amy began building relationships with them and taking their contact details. The designer s that Amy saw at markets in Sydney work so hard for so little and so Amy began to wonder what the next step was for these designers and how do these designers go from selling at the markets to an online store or even fashion shows ? “These Upcoming Australian Designers really needed some exposure and to get out and about with their designs but there was nowhere to do this. There are absolutely no fashion events on the Northern Beaches. Manly seemed like the perfect choice for the first styleXpose fashion show in 2009 at New Brighton Hotel. Now styleXpose is in it’s 3rd year and once again will be held at Sugar Lounge, Manly”.

Amy Studied Event Management and was studying at FBI Fashion College in Glebe and had enough connections and knew enough people to make it work.

Everybody needs experience at the beginning of their careers (everyone involved in styleXpose is less than 25 years old) – designers, models, photographers, film crew, dj, mc, h air and make up team and web designer.

For some of styleXpose designers it’s the first show they’ve ever done. After the competition it just keeps on going: they build connections with one another so that one designer will ask the photographer from the show to shoot their look book and the model to be the face of the label. Or they call and ask Amy if she know’s anyone who can help them with something.

Some of the designers from past styleXpose fashion shows now earn enough money to work for their label full time, while other have had their designs shown at Rosemount Australian Fashion Week or worn by people such as (actress) Isabel Lucas.

StyleXpose is all an online store for the designers of styleXpose and last year Amy styled the cast of MTV Australia’s Reality show ‘Freshwater Blue’ for the ARIAS. Amy is also styling a friend’s music video clip as well at the moment.

Every year styleXpose becomes bigger and better. “It’s worked out really well. – I had to wait a while but it was worth it.”
